I am delighted to note that the Institute of Southern Punjab, Multan, is bringing out its new prospectus. Owing to its location in the Southern Punjab i.e. Multan, the Institute of Southern Punjab has a great opportunity to become a hub of knowledge and research in the region. The Government has a progressive educational policy and is encouraging the private sector to step forward and make its contribution for educating the masses and fulfilling the greater educational and social objectives. For private sector, it is an opportunity to prove its mettle by delivering educational services and research environment of international standards. A private sector institution also needs to constantly upgrade its capacity by hiring best qualified faculty, equipping labs with state of the art equipment, maintaining good libraries and student services etc.

For achieving academic objectives, it is imperative to establish academic linkages with other universities in Pakistan and abroad, funding research and creating knowledge, developing meaningful linkages with local industries etc. Needless to say that healthy educational environment requires ample focus on co-curricular and extracurricular activities. One of the core functions of an educational institution is to bridge the human resource deficit by producing well trained manpower according to the requirements of the local services and industry sectors.

While felicitating the management and faculty of the Institute of Southern Punjab, Multan, on this occasion, I feel sanguine that through sheer hard work, dedication and commitment, the Institute will not take long to develop itself into a Centre of Excellence in the region.
