Department of Mathematics & Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics started functioning in 2010. It started its M.Sc. (Mathematics) and M.Phil. (Mathematics) programs in 2010 and 2013, respectively. Pursuing the policy of the Government of Pakistan to start B.S. programs in the universities, the Department started its BS Mathematics (04 Years) program in 2015. The Department also started its BS Mathematics (2.5 Years) in October 2021, M. Phil. Statistics, M.Sc. Statistics, BS Statistics (04 Years) and BS Statistics (2.5 Years) programs in March 2022.  

The Department is imparting instructions in the following areas of Mathematics and Statistics; (a) Pure Mathematics (b) Applied Mathematics (c) Computational Mathematics (d) Pure Statistics (e) Applied Statistics.

The Department has 22 permanent members on its faculty, out of whom 8 are PhD degree holders and the remaining have M. Phil. degrees. The faculty of the department is highly qualified and considerate for its students. The teachers have very strong passion and capacity to impart quality education and guide good research to the students of the department.

Our programs are so designed that they not only meet the HEC criteria but also enable the students to pursue higher studies and to contribute towards the socio-economic development of the country by joining educational institutions, financial institutions, research organizations, Government and private organizations, Armed forces, Apart from giving the subject knowledge to the students, our stress is to inculcate in the students highly moral and ethical values befitting of an honest and dedicated person.

The department has all-time access to a well-equipped and well-furnished computer laboratory. This laboratory is providing computational facilities to our students and teachers. The department is availing the facility of the central library of the institution having more than 10000 books. The collection includes the latest titles in the various areas of Mathematics and Statistics. The department is also availing the facility of research rooms and HEC digital library. The faculty and research students of the department are engaged in research activities in the areas of Algebra, Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, Topology, Graph Theory, Fluid Mechanics, Mathematical Inequalities, Partial Differential Equations and Linear Programming. The career support program of the Institution is extremely helpful for grooming the personalities of the students and their character building.
