Introduction

Civil engineering is one of the oldest engineering disciplines. It is often known as the mother of all engineering disciplines. It deals with planning, designing, construction, and maintenance of different structures such as buildings, tunnels, bridges, dams, harbors, sports stadia, hospitals, airports, roads, railways, high-rise monuments, etc. In short, Civil Engineers play a vital role to provide basic needs of human beings. Civil Engineering provides the foundation to start every new project. Buildings, roads and bridges are often the first constructions that come to mind, as these are the most conspicuous creations of structural engineering, one of civil engineering's major disciplines. Roads, railways, subways, and airports are designed by transportation engineers which are another specialized area of civil engineering. The Civil Engineering program at the School of Engineering (SEN) at ISP has been designed to prepare the students to become leaders in the industry, government and academia.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The Department of Economics has designed the following Educational Objectives for the Economis program through brainstorming with faculty and keeping in view of Departments’ mission, Institute’s Vision, and stakeholders’ requirements. The following PEOs have been defined in consultation with the Departmental Faculty Members and Industry Advisory Board (IAB). The graduates of the Economics program will have the following capabilities/ skills / attributes four years after their graduation.

PEO-I

To equip engineering graduates with knowledge, skills, and ability to design and investigate complex engineering problems by using modern tools and techniques.

PEO-II

To prepare engineering graduates with leadership qualities, strong communication and managerial skills for sustainable development of the society.

PEO-III

To stimulate life-long learning attitude, ethical and moral values in engineering graduates.

Programs Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) for an academic program are defined as the knowledge, skills and behaviors that a program’s students are expected to demonstrate upon program completion. The PLOs for Bachelor of Electrical Engineering program have been adopted as per Manual of Accreditation 2014 of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). The graduate attributes known as program learning outcomes (PLOs) of the department are listed as the following

Engineering Knowledge:

An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

Problem Analysis:

An ability to identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.

Design/Development of Solutions:

An ability to design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

Investigation:

An ability to investigate complex engineering problems in a methodical way including literature survey, design and conduct of experiments, analysis and interpretation of experimental data, and synthesis of information to derive valid conclusions

Modern Tool Usage:

An ability to create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modeling, to complex engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations

Eligibility Criteria

Intermediate or equivalent with at least 2nd division.
